Living in Melbourne since 1980-2015, I learnt from the Wurundjuri people of Melbourne that their welcoming people to country was also offering their visitors to country a small bunch of gum tree leaves.This is still being used by the Wurundjuri people, even when migrants are given their Australian citizenship certificates.

WOMINJEKA is the word of welcome in the Wurundjuri tribe and this painting symbolizes that custom.

It is my interpretation and my painting the welcoming of the gum tree branches.
